On the occasion of Zoumboulakis Gallery Christmas exhibition I was asked to create an artwork. The exhibition had the tile “The journey at the end of the night” by Celine. I was told to create a nocturne theme based on a literature work of my choice. While I was painting the candle in a starry night I had in mind a couple of verses by Rabindranath Tagore.

It appeared to me as something moderately hopeful, like the one wish we all needed for the coming year. We, the people, we are poetically dwelling on this earth. Let us take this responsibly and create a universe out of nothing. At the end of the night, a day begins.
